I technically started this project in 2017 when received a few thousand dollars of funding from the MIT Sandbox program. The goal is to make a robot that picks up litter from beaches, parks, roadways, etc. The main focus has been on gathering a dataset of litter to train a detection model on. I collected over 3000 pictures of various litter - mostly while outside running - and have labeled a few hundred of them. The dataset management and labeling are all in Roboflow.
